Episode 8 - Mulitlevel Christianity Part 1

I've been excited to record this episode since I started recording these podcasts! Ashlen Blythe joins me in part 1 of what we are calling Multilevel Christianity. Ashlen just has a great mind for asking the questions that I don’t see and just adds so much to this podcast. You’ll likely be seeing a lot more of him around here, as I’m honored to say that he’s agreed to become a more regular part of this show. And I’m just so excited about that.

In this one we are breaking down the science of how the brain works, how it’s built, how centrals beliefs play into everyday life, and where those are physically located in the brain, it’s wild. But more importantly, we are going into the “WHY” of this topic, and why it’s important that we know how the brain works when it comes to central belief.

Next week in part 2, We will be diving into why individuals get sucked into those Multilevel Marketing schemes, and why those individuals are also likely from a religious background of sorts. And also Julie Lynn and Lauren Kuiper will be joining us next week, and rumor is that Julie is going to give a stellar breakdown on how humans learn, I’m so pumped about that.

Episode 5 - Uncensored Christian Part 2

Julie Lynn Sodeman, Ashlen Blythe, and Lauren Kuiper join me again in Episode 5 - Uncensored Christian Part 2

In this episode, Julie Lynn tells some of her story, and we were just so moved that we felt it needed to be its own episode. This story is nothing shy of incredible.

 

Julie is a 31 year old marathon runner with RBF almost constantly. She's in the process of getting her Ph.D. and basically has been in school her whole life, she does yoga, and I honestly don't know how she travels so much. Like seriously. There really isn't anything this chick can't do (besides fix her car, which she has gracefully given that task over to me and with it, a sense of purpose in her life). 

 

We also decided to turn the second part of the podcast into 2 parts (Part 2 with Julie and Part 3 with me) simply because there was so much content we felt needed to stay with Julie's story. So we released this episode a day early on Monday, and we will be releasing Part 3 tomorrow!

Julie Lynn Sodeman, Ashlen Blythe, and Lauren Kuiper join me in Episode 4 - Uncensored Christian Part 1

In this episode, Ashlen and Lauren tell the story of their journey through faith - genesis to deconstruction - in this very raw and real conversation. 

 

Ashlen is a former pastor, attended Fort Myers Masters Commission in 2005/2007, and is married to Jessica. His favorite pass-time is playing fetch with his 3 year old son David with sticks of beef jerky, and trolling Trump Facebook pages. 

Lauren is an aspiring kickball player and a Nurse Practitioner (in the works). She also formerly led worship for many years, and is now living as a wine-drinking post-evangelical, who tells her story in the most raw and real way possible.

The question of "what do you believe" has been a question that was littered throughout my upbringing, especially being raise evangelical. But the question now that is much more interesting to me is WHY do you believe what you believe? The question behind the question. 

In this episode, I get the honor of talking to my great friend [ABD] Dr. Matt Beal, as we dive into this question and all that encompasses the "why" behind the "what"... Why we believe what we believe.

 

We talk about space, the bible, Einsteinian Relativity, cognative biases, love, hope, faith, all the things. This converstation stretched me and really challenged me and what I believe.
